It is all known that NYC is a city that never sleeps. According to the noise complaint report from NYC 311, the city is receiving usually thousand of noise complaints from NYC five boroughs every day. I collected noise complaint data from NYC 311 website to make an interactive live chart above. The data ranges from March 2020, the very beginning of the pandemic, until August 2021. The chart shows that there were more complaints in summer and fewer in winter. However, before the vaccine rollout started earlier this year, noise complaints in 2020 summer were much higher than complaints this summer.

I also made a Mapbox map below displaying the four loudest neighborhoods in NYC from 2019 to 2020. According to a report issued by Rent Own Sell, the loudest neighborhoods were Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and Queens. Staten Island has the least amount of noise disruption-related reports lodged with 311.
