"Everyone was very polite and tried not to cause problems for other people, and that made me very relieved." -- Betty Gu, a Chinese student studying in the U.S..

"It was really exhausting, but thanks to everyone who helped us come back home safely." --Manchung Yuen, a Chinese student studying in Canada.

Since the the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak expanded in the U.S. in March, it hasn't been simple for international students to fly back to their home countires. Not only because of how dangerous flying has become, but also because of the emotional anxiety and feeling of having to escape. Beyond the difficulty of leaving behind one's life abroad is also the dismay given by the fact one doesn't know when they'll be able to travel back to their lives before the pandemic. Here is a selection of photos by International students travelling back home, with quotes collected on their thoughts on their journeys.

Here's an insider view of how travelling in the era of coronavirus is indeed much harder than we thought.

A short animation video showing people's come-back-home journeys during the coronavirus pandemic.
